Here we go again on our own...
~LIFE WONT WAITSoooooooooo.... Life got in the way of music for a while. But to no avail, Im back. and Im promising myself that I will continue this blog once again. If your not familiar with my blog, this is a blog for my music. The music I find, the records I collect, local Seattle punk, and the music I and my friends create. And, as a bonus feature.... I was recently told by a doctor that I have heart issues. Im not going to go in to full detail, but I was having chest pains, and getting lightheaded to the point of disorientation followed by extreme migraines. We have found out that its my heart and blood pressure that has been causing the issues. Since Im not a fan of taking medicine/the healthcare in this country is a joke, I have to start getting a crap ton of exercise and eating better. I'm just warning you. This part wont be a feature to my blog. But don't be surprised if I have a rant or two soon about how much I hate working out and eating better.
With out further interruption...
~WE OWN THESE STREETS
Seattle has recently been blessed with the joining of three of our most rad, unpredictable and avant-garde musicians, forming to one band, Monogamy Party. To be honest there isn't a whole lot of bands you can compare them to, but they do have a stylized, crushing, heavy weighted sound that is EXTREMELY appealing. Two of their members, Yoswa (Bass Thunder), and Kennedy (Vocal Lightning), are old friends of mine who have been tossing around the idea of playing music together for sometime now. And I'm extremely glad they finally followed through. Once the addition of there drummer Keith, they have formed a sound that is tighter than an Englishman's cricket shoes. I recently saw them at the Galway Arms with Smooth Sailing and Oven Rake, and I was incredibly stoked to be present with such a line up. The boys of Monogamy Party blew the audience away. Still being a newer band they haven't gotten their name around very much, so there was a ton of people in the audience who weren't ready for what fell in their lap... literally. With Keith's passionate aggression, Yoswa's ferocious bass playing, and Kennedy's insanely appealing stage performance and banter, Im sure there going to do very well. Do your self a favor and make their next show. You will not be disappointed. They are speaking of the first MP record, but they haven't started as of yet. Get on that party bus.
~ FOR THE RECORD
Do to my work schedule and the holidays, I havent had the time or money for new records, and it's been killing me. But, I have managed to get a few here and there.
Ive recently purchased the new Sainte Catherine's record "Fireworks", and it rules. I've been a fan of these dirty clothed Canadians for some time now. And they always impress me. This record is alot more "toned down" then their last record, but that doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I think i breathes new life in to the band. You can also tell that the fact that they have been playing in their slower country flavored side project Yesterdays Ring lately, and its been effecting their song writing. Its different but I love it. Definitely worth the buy.
I give Fireworks - 4 GNARS (out of 5)
More record reviews this week... Promise.
This is the first blog of many to come. I hope you enjoy.
